TTRIMS Newsletter #1 Intro

December 22, 2023

The president of the International Institute for Monetary Transformation is happy to present during this Christmas season his gift to the world—his urbi and orbi—of a just transition pathway by way of the Institute’s TTRIMS monetary sustainability framework leading to a transformed world economy that was proposed during the recent COP 28 in Abu Dabi, UAE.

That world economy with its decarbonization-based international monetary system and its associated money-based financial system, inequality-reducing fiscal system, and its UN Peoples’ Bank-regulated international trading system would replace the the global financial architecture which is “outdated, dysfunctional and unjust,” according to António Guterres, secretary general of the United Nations, because “Even the most fundamental goals on hunger and poverty have gone into reverse after decades of progress.”

THE JUST TRANSITION PATHWAY OF THE COP28

Declaration:
⦁ Economic concentration and the financialization of societies have led to the major emergencies in climate, health, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in food and governance.
⦁ The world economy is to be transformed by the Tierra decarbonization-based international monetary system leading to a transformational Bretton Woods 3.0 by the adoption of the TTRIMS (Tierra TRansformed International Monetary System) monetary sustainability framework convention. It would realize the aspirations of the 1974 New International Economic Order.
⦁ The Just Transition Working Group launched in COP27 and to be negotiated during COP28 needs the TTRIMS underpinning of a global monetary sustainability framework that would lead to a framework convention of the quality of the 1992 Earth Summit of UNCED.
⦁ COP28 can be a pivotal event of historical significance in reducing those four emergencies if its final statement includes a strong just transition pathway such as TTRIMS AND if the COP is followed by a 2024 UN Commission on Monetary Reform and Transformation and the 2025 UN Transformation Convention, following the example of the 44 nations at Bretton Woods 1.0 in 1944, leading to a transformational Bretton Woods 3.0 which would supersede the reformist Bretton Woods 2.0 of the IMF.

Declares who?
Frans C. Verhagen, M.Div., M.I.A., PhD. sustainability sociologist of international development, IIMT founding president, determined to transform the unjust, unsustainable, and therefore, unstable international monetary system, which influences the unjust financial, fiscal, and commercial subsystems of the world economy.

Explanation
–Nature: TTRIMS stands for the Tierra TRansformed International Monetary System. The Tierra is the digital currency of IIMT’s decarbonization-based international monetary system with its associated money-based financial system, inequality-reducing fiscal system, its UN Peoples’ Bank-regulated international trading system. Verhagen 2012″The Tierra Solution: Resolving the Climate Crisis through Monetary Transformation” and the two 2022-3 websites above. The money-based financial system is being pursued in thirty countries. www.immr.org The American Monetary Institute issued its COP28 statement calling for “1) the debt-based system to be changed into a sovereign monetary system; 2) to develop similar institutions at an international level; and 3) for the UN to set up a commission of monetary inquiry.” https://monetary.org/conference/ami-conference-statement-to-cop28
–Rationale: the main rationale for the TTRIMS monetary sustainability framework is the need to bring together and integrate the main ideas, values, frameworks, movements, matrices that social, economic and ecological justices or transitional justice demands to be included. I consider the TTRIMS monetary sustainability framework to be the fifth geoeconomic, geosocial, geoecological world framework and vision that integrates the West with the USA and IMF, the East with BRICS and its Development Bank, the United Nations, the Global South through the Tierra decarbonization-based monetary system’s global heating solution. COP speakers such as King Charles III emphasized the need for “genuine transformational action” the TTRIMS monetary sustainability framework is a transformational framework that is to inform transformational action.
–Strategy: the global empowerment of people with religious leadership such as https://greenfaith.org and https://www.uua.org for a transitional justice-based, scientifically sourced, global movement where “The good life is one of connectedness—with each other and all of nature. It is a world of flourishing life that replaces despair with joy, scarcity with shared abundance, and privilege with justly distributed power.”
