Ablity of change it is different for everyone and so is systemic change, particularly if that systemic change is international stransformational change. However, such ssytemic change is demanded from each of us if we want our children and grandchildren and the planet herself to have a future. We have to develop a sustainability vision that is to be applied to both the four subsystems of the world economy.
This sustainability vision is to be applied foremost to the international monetary system bacause this subsystem of the world economy is the first among eqquals in the subsystems of the world economy. Transforming that unjust, unsustainable, and therefore, unstable international monetary system would impact of the transformation of the financial, fiscal, and commercial subsystems.
The international monetary system can be transformed by making it work towards decarbonization of the overlapping local, national and international monetary systems. In the draft Prologue and Chapter 1 of the 2024 “Transforming the world economy: The TTRIMS monetary sustainability framework“ that are part of this opening page and provide a short overview of the rest of the website and the the 2024 Transforming the world economy book that is the sequel to Verhagen 2012″The Tierra Solution: Resolving the Climate Crisis through Monetary Transformation”.
Though it will be governments in last instance that willl decide the structure and process of a decarbonization-based international monetary system.it will be people power that wiil have to psud business and governments to do their part in this transformational endevour that can be compared with a transformational Bretton Woods 3.0 given its need for an overhaul of global governance to make climate stability reachable.

President Biden and his counterparts in many of the Group of 20 nations, which include wealthy countries like Britain and Japan and emerging markets like India and Brazil, are pushing for an aggressive and coordinated response to those threats. They hope to broker agreements meant to dampen global oil prices, help emerging markets escape crushing debt and increase food supplies to poorer nations
……… “Hopeful signs of recovery last year were replaced by an abrupt slowdown in the world economy because of Covid, the war in Ukraine and climate disasters on all continents,” Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the I.M.F. . Central banks around the world are raising interest rates rapidly, in order to tame the runaway inflation that has been fueled in part by supply shortages prompted by Russia’s war. Those rate increases are helping to strengthen the dollar against foreign currencies, and they are hurting countries like Sri Lanka, Chad and Ghana, which borrow in dollars to bring food, fuel and other necessities to their people. Administration officials want to push the International Monetary Fund to accelerate debt-forgiveness efforts as more countries come under financial pressure from rate increases.
Eswar Prasad, a professor of trade policy at Cornell University, said the increased strength of the dollar relative to other currencies was amplifying inflation for countries such as India, because the goods they import that are denominated in dollars have become more expensive.
“Indians acknowledge that the Fed needs to do what the Fed needs to do, but there is some resentment that the U.S. monetary policy is creating a lot of complications for India,” Mr. Prasad, a former I.M.F. official, said.
COMMENT
The sorry state of the world with its several emergencies and short-term threats could be improved if more time and resources were going to be spent on developing a framework based on the values of justice andsustainability.
The TTRIMS (Tierra TRansformed International Monetary System) sustainability framework of international development is being presented as one of such frameworks. It has been developed by a sustainability sociologist of international development at the International Institute for Monetary Transformation. Details in https://transformmoney.org.
